MASTER CLASS PROVES A
WINNER
The first Master Class
combining classroom
training with hands-on
experience has received
the thumbs up from Gough
Group service partners.
Twenty technicians from
four states in Australia
and from throughout New
Zealand attended the
inaugural event, which
provided something for
everyone – a blend of
theoretical training and
hands-on challenges mixed
with input about upcoming
projects and technical
improvements.
Mario Penn, and Austrians Franz
Mayr and Christian Schinagl were
the specialist trainers, inspiring the
participants with their knowledge and
passion for Palfinger products.
The Austrians, sharing “straight from
the source” challenged the participants
to make their chosen careers more
than just a job, and encouraged them to
reach a higher standard of work.
The programme was customised to
target problems and difficulties faced
by our service partners on a day-to-
day basis. The knowledge gained will
help benefit them during the challenges
of installing, servicing and repairing
Palfinger products. Palfinger will also
benefit from a strong efficient service
network which in turn provides a solid
support for our customers.
Mario Penn says as the master class
unfolded, it became apparent that this
method of training must become the
backbone in our training programme.
“Even more so after receiving positive
feedback from the participants. It
makes so much difference
to put the theoretical
knowledge gained in the
classroom into action
and immediately attack
questions and issues.
This allows the trainees
to work out the solution
together with the trainer,
whilst operating the unit.
Combining theoretical
knowledge with related
actions and procedures
is helping to create a
sustainable learning
experience.”
Master Class 2015 was just the start.
Plans are already underway for Master
Class 2015 2.0.
Support for Ronald
McDonald House
As many of you are
aware, Ronald McDonald
House South Island
suffered a major burglary
in Christchurch on the
24th of July. The charity
had approximately
$10,000 taken along
with their safe.
This occurred while the
accommodation facilities were filled
with quite a few families supporting
very ill children.
As a result, our Gough Group
Leadership Team have unanimously
decided on behalf of all of our Team
members that we will donate $10,000
to Ronald McDonald House SI to
replace their terrible loss.
In the aftermath of the
devastating Christchurch
earthquakes, team
members fund-raised
a significant sum of
money to support our
affected people. We
have used these funds
over time to support
those nominated
team members
with additional
accommodation, insurance
and legal costs, electricity bills, and
other earthquake related costs.
Our Leadership Team has taken the
view that the burglary that occurred
at Ronald McDonald House is indeed
significant and in light of our ongoing
Team member fund-raising for Ronald
McDonald
House, we
will contribute
$10,000 from
the remaining
Earthquake Fund
to offset this loss.
The Gough
Group Team is
delighted to be
able to support this
wonderful charity
that provides free
accommodation and support to families
who have to travel to Christchurch for
their child’s hospital treatment. It has
helped nearly 3,000 families since opening
in 2003.
